Genoforge 5 resolution too high, how can I lower it?

So, after playing quite a bit of Avernum and Avadon, I'm ready to jump into Genoforge...I've heard the best things about 5, so that is where I'd like to start. However, every time I go to start the game, the only resolution option I'm given is for 1920x1080, which renders the game text way too small for me to read (I have my PC hooked up to my TV and sit roughly 7 feet from the 40 inch TV). Even if I downscale the desktop resolution through windows, when starting the game I'm still only given the option for 1080, and the game will force the resolution to change upon loading.

 

My eyesight just ain't that great and I can't imagine playing hours and hours of this game while I'm squinting like an old man...any ideas on what could be done?
