Photo Thread Reborn

I know several people with emus, as well as a couple who go hiking with their llamas. It's legal to own most things in Colorado, provided you have a permit, but individual cities are more restrictive. Mine, for instance, forbids ungulates, although they pass through town frequently. I do not know if we have a specific emu regulation, though. I hope so. They're not as bad as cassowaries, but they're still frightening creatures.

btw

What is this?

You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.

Which image extension were you trying to use? If you were trying to use the links, as is, then the .htm is not a valid image file. .htm is a web page which cannot be embedded in the fora. http://s14.directupl...23/pj7w8g7x.jpg is what you should have used to embed the picture. No ads when you click this link either.

There used to be an emu ranch along the highway between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. We stopped in there once and bought a bizarre range of emu-based products. I'm not a very observant eater, but I could probably eat emu and think it was beef. Interesting to learn that kangaroo is similar. In return I can offer the observation that ostrich is very like emu, and alligator is very much like chicken.

i have not tried alligator but i know of a place nearby that sells it. perhaps i will do so at some point

actually what i should do is i should start a meat thread so as to stop derailing this one

We do not mourn Missy any less, but there is no need to mourn her alone. Besides that, it was not good for Abby to have to live on the street. She had been abandoned in the neighborhood where I work. She needs us as much as we need her. I do believe that it was providence that brought us together.

Lilac flower buds

Syncronized dabbling! (Male and female northern shovelers. Not sure if they are actually a pair or just together incidentally, since there was a whole huge flock nearby.)

Male American kestral eating a garter snake (and having lots of trouble with it. It was a tiny (very dead) snake too.)

And of course, what would Dikiyoba's post be without this photo of bones! (Based on the jaw and teeth, it's a rodent. A very large rodent, not near any body of water, so... porcupine?)

Here you have pictures of mount kilimanjaro(from an airplane because the actual tour there is a thousand dolars) which isnt a great deal until you realise its the highest mountain in africa as well as the only place that snows in africa(cept egypt once every century or so and south africa even less often).

And of lake nyassa. Also from a plane. Which again pretty not impressive or worth the shot really, from up close its a better view but i dont have the pics. Only reason i took it is cause it was huuuge. Minutes passed and you still couldnt see the end. Which was surprising. Personally at least. Not the biggest lake around.

Anyway i might upload some pictures of the city im in right now later. As well as of the beach much much later. Not award winning pics. Just so you can see the place.
