Hey guys, Thought i'd share the character editor that i just finished. It could definetly get some improvement but it does the job for me. It should work with existing save files but i reccommand backing up your source files anyway. Default values increase by +10 of stat selected ingame. Coins cap out at 30k Location: Magic sign is at the first zone (zone 0) once you exit the ruin after waking up. Install Locate the file z0entrydlg.txt My Steam install location: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Geneforge 2 - Infestation\Geneforge 2 Infestation Files\Scripts\z0entrydlg.txt" Create a backup copy of z0entrydlg.txt Copy the text from the spoiler below and overwrite the file's contents and save Load your game IMGUR pics Photos of sign and install: https://imgur.com/a/Kal6HQ0 How to edit the script to your liking: https://imgur.com/a/IHr6prl (also in the uploadnow.io link) UPDATE: V2024.03.31 - Also a link to download the .txt file https://uploadnow.io/f/Z9TPYqR

Just tested Spellcraft vs Battle Magic in Drypeak Gates on fyoras and thahds. 19 Spellcraft and 1 Battle Magic = ~110 dmg. 1 Spellcraft and 19 Battle Magic = ~65 dmg. So Spellcraft and Battle Magic aren't equal in damage levels as everyone here seems to think. What I wonder is if this is true in other Geneforge games as well?

What program should I be using to manually edit saves? I am currently using Windows and have tried Notepad and Notepad++, I used to play on Mac so I don't know if Windows saves are in a different format, because when I tried to open the save files in those programs, all I get is a massive window of weird characters (I've also tried borrowing my brother's Mac and load the saves using Text Editor, which is the app I used before when I used to play on Mac OS, the same issue occured). Has something changed over the years (I haven't edited any saves for nearly a decade) or am I doing something wrong? Assuming I manage to open my save file, my question is: Assuming I accidentally put a point in Strength (meaning NPC will only let me buy 1 level instead of 2) and I want to be able to use an NPC skill trainer later on to buy those 2 levels in Strength, if I edit the save to give myself back the characteristic points and reduce the Strength back to default stats, will I be able to buy 2 levels or am I still stuck with 1 level?

It's not in the G3 >> Data >> Save 1~15 folders. That only applies to G1. It is not in My Documents, either-- that only applies to G4 and later. I remember finding the G2 and G3 saves a couple of times in the past, in some weird place, I just for the life of me cannot remember where. I really want to back up my save files. Where on Windows 7 are they located?

After searching on these forums and finding the cheat code to set my canister usage in Geneforge 2, I compiled the following additional codes for other flags that seem to affect the ending (mainly to see the ending text if I didn't find Shanti). Bring up the cheat console with Shift-D and enter "sdf x y z" without quotes, where x and y are flag indices and z is the value as respectively described under each description below. I.e., "sdf 100 7 0" to set canister usage to zero. === Warning 1: Make a back-up of your saved game. I didn't test everything and immediately left the valley after cheating, without continuing the game with the cheats. Warning 2: Spoilers below. === === Edit: The above are all the flags that I've found that seem to affect the ending text (unless otherwise noted). For others, it's easy enough to search for get_flag or set_flag or sdf within the script files anyway.
