Articulate Vlish (4/17)

  1. In A4 Gladwell is nice... (I didn't bother with his quest (or quest line if there was one). He sells all of the best spells at ridiculous instead of utterly ridiculous.
  2. 0 intelligence and they go rogue after a few turns. 2 and they won't ever. Anyone ever done 1 intelligence creations?
  3. I always laugh when people try to attack me. Their side: 4 serviles. My side: A super charged level 45 Shaper beast and 6 War Tralls.
  4. I've never crafted a single wand and I rarely use them. But: Is the product worth more than the materials across games?
  5. The "I buy this for 10 times what it's worth because I'm an idiot" merchant fooled me in G5. I spent all of that time saving up shaper's equipment only to discover it wasn't worth 70 gp. You really should go into each game knowing what to save because in 1-3 encumberance matters.
  6. My favourite character: That random soldier at the Nodye Pass. Such a hard job to keep sending people away but somebody has to do it. My least favourite character: Mekkhen. No I don't want to be a rebel. No I don't want to be a rebel. Still no. No. No. No. You meet me outside the Shaper hall and think you can kill me?!? My favourite creation: War Tralls. 6 of these + Battle Roar = exxxxxcellent. My least favourite creation: Vlish. They are boring and I rarely go outside of battle. (Rarely = Drakes) My favourite spell: Battle Roar. Can really turn the tide. My least favourite spell: Curing. When it doesn't actually fully cure something. Seems pathetic. My favourite sect: Alwan. My least favourite sect: Ghaldring. The drakons seem like more violent shapers. I feel like there are three stages of rule going on here: Claim to power (aggressive), good control, and finally failure. The drakons are at the beginning, the shapers are at the end. The problem? The drakons are naturally arrogant while the shapers became that way. My favourite area: Bonespeak. The first time I played through this area was ... hard ... but it is a lot more fun coming back with 3 Rot's and a Cyrodrake. My least favourite area: The entire Dera Reaches. I don't agree with the policy and I don't agree with the practice. Too ... unShaped.
  7. Seeing as the average creature lasts 5 maps for me (or I just go Agent) naming them would be a lot of work. Abrica XXXIV the Artila?
  8. I'm not quite sure what you mean, but all I can think of is dancing numbers.
  9. I would say I miss the old forums but I think the last time I logged on was last year. Will the new have all sorts of !exciting! problems and !impressive! issues?
  10. I can't thank either of you two enough. I would have had something completely different (and most likely to fail) but now I might actually get some fun out of the 100+ hours I'll put into this. Thanks again.
  11. I just finished getting bored with Avernum 4 and this is the next stone in the skip. The first time I played A4, I messed it up. A lot. So then this awesome person had on the forums a build (custom x4) that detailed ever initial skill point for a basic build. I understand that for most of you that takes away from the fun, but I don't like the beginning or end of these games. I like the middle, I like the exploration, and the running around. So while this game is new, I was just wondering if someone could give me a basic build that actually works? I only ask this because I was lurking around the forums and only found one build that was mentioned and it was for torment (I start out at normal, get annoyed part way through, and switch to easy:). Basically, can someone just help me out? I'm confused.
  12. The reason we see serviles as good are because they are both good at melee and magic. But a creation servile can't use magic. Basically making them into a tank creature (battle alpha/beta). If Jeff had made it so that creatures can use magic (like he does in Avadon) then I agree, a servile would be a nice addition. Having a servile means that you can create one of the few widespread creations out there. Unfortunately, Geneforge is done so creatures will never be able to use magic. Servile is not needed.
  13. Oooooh. You aren't supposed to rush Vlish? Maybe that is why mine keep dying. I really like poison attacks.
  14. A servile sounds pointless. Why have one of them when I can use a battle beta instead? Plus serviles have a higher rouge chance.
  15. Quick question: You are rebooting the entire computer right, not just the game?
