  1. You are a: Socialist Anti-Government Interventionist Humanist Moderate Collectivism score: 67% Authoritarianism score: -33% Internationalism score: 17% Tribalism score: -67% Liberalism score: 0% There weren't enough questions to accurately describe my views, but this is what I got.
  2. Highly enjoyed this! However, I have some suggestions, and I'd like to have a discussion! So far, I've found this to be very promising, and a bit inspiring for future additions to the game, and after playing it I have some points I wanted to go over. 1. Could you reword the base setup refusal? It makes it sound like refusing -doesn't- allow you to return, so I had went with it even though there were a bunch of rothghroths I would've liked to clear out before setting up turrets and such (because one had died on its own), so instead of "It didn't work so well the last time." something like "Perhaps when I come back later." (it turned out that this IS a reoccuring event, but I didn't know that at the time because of how it was worded, and how all-or-nothing the dialogue earlier in the chain had been. 2. The base itself: Currently it seems to only work with a check on your inventory to see if you have any research notes, but I had to look that up xD Would it be possible to add a creation to the base that you can talk to in order to bring up the prompt? It'd only be a technicality (Maybe you can make it look like a control panel. Shade, servile, thahd, servant mind.. it could even say things like "Everything is in order." when not in dialogue, add a bit of flavor/liveliness) 3. This last suggestion is based on the viability of the one before it, but: if you do have a butler/dummy NPC you can talk to to bring up options, it'd be a quality of life addition if it could also give you a dialogue option that lets you leave the zone immediately (it'd faster than Shift+D exitzone, but this again is minor). It'd also be a way to look at all your options and statuses clearly. 4. There are a couple typos in v.1.1, in z51rockfalldlg specifically that I noticed, though if I wasn't looking for them I wouldn't really even have noticed (even Jeff still has some :p) 5. Would it be too much of a stretch to be able to talk to NPCs after establishing your base/identity about the past more? (More reflection I guess, at the least) Specifically I was thinking Greta. While It's gone over in the text on the identity chain, but there isn't too much exchange (which might be the total as intended). How exactly is Research Potential calculated?

  4. So, my personal opinion on having an imaginary girlfriend is that it projects what you desire and reinforces or provides a means of validation. For example, I cuddled with Kara a lot. I also highly value physical closeness. Part of her character was a manifestation of an unsatisfied urge of mine. Another was talking to me, since I felt a lack of attention. She also had black hair. I'm more into blondes now, though. Anyway... I am primarily motivated by the approval of others, so creating or deluding myself into false versions of other people that allow me to oversimplify complex situations or to avoid coping with a difficult reality that I didn't want to accept was a solution for me. Also keep in mind that I'm not religious, so I didn't have any other personal connection within me to find strength or to commune with, as it were. I think it's perfectly normal. The advantages are certainly clear: Your invention would never leave you, and is bound to be largely in agreement with you as the two are synonymous. When I was younger, I also had an imaginary girlfriend (whom I mentioned earlier), as well as other imaginary characters which I often found myself trying to interact with or spend time with when I was alone. The way I got over this was by finding other people on the internet. Friends, basically. I mean, I have some in real life that I hang out with occasionally, but I'm more often talking to people on Skype or whatever. I'm introverted, socially awkward, unsocial due to being homeschooled for most of my life and not going to enough events, preferring to spend time alone. I didn't really have too many opportunities to interact with people in real life. I don't mean to discount alone time as the cause, but understand that it can compound existing thoughts, especially unhealthy ones. One issue I think I see in your case is that an over-reliance on her might cause you to miss out on opportunities available to you, because you want to spend time or further invest in her. The way I see it, it's a very emotionally/mentally involved way to cope with a problem, but shouldn't prevent you from trying other solutions. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Somebody feel free to tear them apart.

  6. I want to die after publishing the next update to my Skyrim mod. Or, if I don't get completely and utterly rejected by this one person I like before then, shortly after they completely and utterly reject me in the future.
  7. I might join in on this if I get some free time in my busy academic life.
  8. While my reasoning is simpler than some of the other posts here, I think that the Shapers would most likely triumph against all others, aside from a few cases I'll go over. First off, if they got rushed out or lost control early on, which is something they've struggled with before, they'd lose ground. Complacency made the Shapers lose the entire eastern half of their continent throughout the Geneforge series, but they likely would've never faced a dangerous rebellion had Sucia Island be dealt with sooner. If we're talking about the forces at their peak, and not at the canonical endings of their series thus far, I'd say that the Shapers would very easily win eventually through attrition against foes, provided that they do not get infiltrated too much. Their power lies in tradition and secrecy, which can be used against them by the right foe. The Empire's figurehead was hard enough for the strongest mage Avernum had to deal with, and its complete superiority over the surface through numbers might just be enough to overwhelm the Shapers, whom have only their magic to rely on. The Pact probably would be easier to beat than the uniform Empire, but they're also a lot more diverse, by what I've seen, and might be able to rush Shaper armies down. When it comes down to everything, I guess it depends on how you use the strongest traits you have. The Shapers have a lot, and I believe that using what they have at their disposal the most intelligently, they'd likely triumph against the other two easily. Having a guarded tower full of relatively frail Shapers pumping out a stream of creations for major warfare against highly trained soldiers who have trained for years and have equipment, time, and money invested into them would slowly result in victory if the sides do not adapt.
  9. Hi there! I've been referred to this campaign by a friend. I'd like to give it a try, even though I think I might end up causing more harm than good. My first aid skill is low.
  10. While I look forward to Avernum 3: Wuined Rorld, I am sad that the two remakes of Avernum thus far do not feature doors that can be closed. I hope that other 'features' that the game had will not be cut. For example, Avernum 3 had horses, and events that happen over time. Towns slowly get destroyed or worn down over time, and a major story event takes place after 120 in-game days. I could see this potentially being merged to occur with quests as to streamline the experience, but I personally feel that it would detract from the charm that the original game had. A lot of the spells and customization options have already been slimmed down, such as the skill-trees in the newer Avernums, rather than a list of points whom even equate to each other if you get enough, so I'm not entirely hopeful for this.
  11. Nice comic Do you think you might make more? I think it's very good quality, both the humor and art-style!
  12. My mother has a Mac laptop, and is going to buy a desktop computer soon. Hopefully not another Mac. My father has 3 Toshiba laptops. One is for work. I have a Gateway laptop, a Kindle Fire, an old Dell laptop with a broken screen, two Raspberry Pi 'computers', and my current HP desktop PC. I despise them all equally. The only one I know that has a unique name other than "<Owner>'s <device>" is my current desktop PC. Lovingly named RustyBucket by me. It's important because I use it for gaming. Here some old specs of my desktop: The monitor is 1920x1080 now, but everything else is probably the same.
  13. I'd like to be happy. Being around happy friends makes me happy. I need friends, though. Being well-educated and having an athletic build are also ideal.
