  1. Anyone have the original sprite sets for any of the Exile games? I really prefer the original to the updated, oddly enough. If you have them around anywhere and could send them to me somehow, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
  2. I recommend doing it with the mirrors... Sure, it takes longer, but lasers are fun. And as far as golems go, killing = more experience = good. Besides, they're not that hard to kill if you've played well and gotten the right gear.
  3. Seriously. As if there's not enough cool equipment in the game already.
  4. I can understand why Jeff didn't make the encounter unending. But it certainly was fun in E2 - I'd keep my final save right there, and whenever I wanted to kick sme Empire tail, I'd load up and fry those poor little imp-loving momma's boys. On a somewhat-related note, is the Third Empire Army encounter in A3 infinite? Or can you finally get in there?
  5. Hmm. My last save point was right next to the controls. But I think my backup was right before the Vahnatai captured me. So I guess I'll go back to there. Any ideas on what to do to waste 50 days until TotM (I know, it's ToM in Avernum, but I like the Exile version better) gets invaded? (And who the heck takes 160 days to beat the game, anyway?!)
  6. I agree. A sequel would be better than a facelift - and I haven't even beaten Nethergate yet! (I am trying, though - I just started yesterday!)
  7. After the little movie at the end, a window pops up saying something to the effect of there's still a lot more to do. I mean, I had a few minor quests left, and I had really cool stuff to drop off at my house! (I'm a pack rat; you never know when three suits of blessed plate mail will come in handy! Plus, do you really want that kind of power availible to the general public?) The only problem is, the window says Quit, Restart, or Restore. Is there any way to continue playing the game, like there was in A1 and 2?
  8. Quote: The only plus is you get all the experience for that guy. True, but I never had much of a problem with experience in E2... I mean, my characters didn't hit the cap, but they were certainly the most dangerous thing in the caves.
  9. I believe Princess Ruth is correct. Of course, it's been, what, three years since I beat that game? And yes, the Empire troops there are a lot easier to beat in E2 - then again, the man-to-man odds are more in your favor, too.
  10. Just do what Jeff recommends in the letter he sends when you register: make a backup copy of Avernum.dat (for Windows users, at least) and store it in a safe place. I store it in three safe places for extra security: USB flash drive, CD-RW, and as an attachment that I emailed to myself.
  11. I would have to agree with Rent-an-Ihrno. Having played and beaten A3 over the last six days, "HA HA" seems more familiar than "HA HA HA". Of course, if you're seeing that, then you've gone too far. But Alo already said that.
  12. The Empire camp that you call an unending loop is only unending in E2. In A2, they'll only rush out at you three times. Maybe five. But they do stop, entirely too soon.
  13. Hmm... Been a while since I've played A2. But here's what I remember, without giving too much away: Check around the area where you got the bug. (North of Mancuso, if I remember correctly.) There should be an altar somewhere around there. With the bug in your inventory, something interesting should happen. It may take several times, and the special happening may be repeatable - like I said, it's been a while, and I'm not 100% sure. Just play around with bugs and the altar and eventually something good will occur. EDIT: Please let me know if this works.
  14. I like the name "Exile" a lot better. It just sounds cooler. I can imagine bits of A1 in the movie though - the party comes out of the castle and head west. They rise over a hill (I know, no hills in that area... Call it poetic license.) and see Fort Remote. In ruins. All of those brave soldiers, some of them the party's good friends. They then swear an oath to hunt down the monster that committed this atrocity. Fade to black.
  15. If someone did a (really, really good, hyper-accurate) BoE version of A4, I would buy BoE for that one reason alone. Hint, hint, all you BoE experts with too much free time.
