  1. Thanks . Don't seem to have time to play spidweb games as much anymore, so lurking suits me better. I did- that was actually by omission rather than forgetting to do so. As anonymous as this is, I didn't want anyone to worry that I was asking them incredibly detailed questions on a site where its possible for me to find real identities. I mean, the chances are negligible for most people on here, but I'm also going to ask the same questions at work, where I do know everyone's names. My bad, I guess that's what using the Geneforge does to a person . You can say the same about locks and locksmiths though. Most people won't be CompSci / CompSec Students / Majors. I think it's more like "do you keep your valuables in a safe?" "what make and model safe is it?" and "Do you really think they're safe?" *cue evil laughter*. But yes, in all seriousness its why I tried not to ask too personal questions. According to research then, if you were an average person you would only have 18 different sites to log in to (each person uses a password an average of 6 times). Sounds like a social engineer would have a field day at that company. Thanks for all of the input so far guys, you've been great . If a tad on the healthy paranoid side . - Archmagus Micael
  2. Hi all, Some of you will probably remember me, the newer guys probably not so much - I've been mostly lurking the last few years now. I'm currently working on my Final Year Project (essentially our Dissertation) for University, and was wondering if some of you guys wouldn't mind spending 5-10 minutes filling out a survey for my research. It's a quick survey trying to study password habits amongst Computer users. I took a wild stab in the dark and assume you guys all use computers of one sort or another . If you have some time that would be very much appreciated, the survey can be found here : http://kwiksurveys.c...g0044318&refer= Thanks! - Archmagus Micael

Did everyone stop drooling over Elder Scrolls graphics and start appreciating the little guys, or were these customers always out there, untapped? Maybe some of us just like both? In Graphics, Sound Work (really epic soundtrack) and Modability, Spiderweb games can't hope to compare with big budget titles like Skyrim. But that's okay, since Jeff's not trying to compete with them. Spiderweb games' strength are their Stories (which let you use your imagination), their role-playing decisions (do I help the Shapers or the Rebels? Do I help Erika or kill Grah-Hoth first) and their general old-school coolness (I miss shareware CDs, they were a great way to try new games). Either way, both types of games have a place in people's hearts. And the humble bundle has quite a following now. That being said, I have all the other games in this bundle already, and I (blasphemy) wasn't overly fond of Avadon, so I won't be getting the latest bundle. Though I do like that not only is Jeff taking the plunge and branching out to new distributers (and more importantly they're taking his games on) but also new platforms. I do wonder how much those 3rd party porters charged him though... Can't imagine it would have been that cheap. - Archmagus Micael
  4. I just saw this. Spiderweb's certainly branched out Distribution the last year or so. - Archmagus Micael
  5. Personal, though many of the questions are very ambiguous with regards to interpretation. Though surely your ideal Government would roughly follow the same principles you hold dear? - Archmagus Micael
  6. Economic Left/Right: -6.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.08 I still think Corporations are out to get us all. - Archmagus Micael
  7. I think you'll find they were there in the Exile series far before Nethergate or Avernum . - Archmagus Micael

Maybe a little too good in this case ... Archmagus Micael, I tried fiddling with the Game Area Size, but it doesn't affect the problem, I'm afraid. Thank you for the suggestion anyway. Shame. Out of curiosity, have you tried downloading the game from the Spiderweb site and see if changing that works from there (I don't see why it would make a difference to be honest, but that's the one I tested against)? I would also try reinstalling the latest graphics drivers for your system if that still doesn't work(whether you have the latest already installed or not). It's possible (though unlikely) your current drivers have somehow gotten corrupted. Originally Posted By: Earth Empires widescreen monitors aren't that good when it comes to games. Also, for Windows at least, the best bet for avoiding graphics problems is sticking to the monitor's native resolution. - Archmagus Micael
  9. Quote: I bought Avadon on Steam. In windowed mode the game runs fine. But in full screen the game never fits in the screen: - in some resolutions I'm missing parts at the top and the bottom of the game - in other resolutions parts at the left and right are gone as well. In short the game never fits my screen. My system: Windows 7 64 bit Intel® Core i7 CPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M (latest drivers installed) Any help is appeciated Bylandt, Just checking that you've changed the settings correctly- I honestly can't blame you if you didn't. There's an obscure option in Settings called "Game Area Size"- the default will be 'normal', and this will result in the game "chopping off" parts of your screen if you have a 16:9 aspect ratio (1920*1080). This will happen regardless of what resolution you set it. When I tried 1366*768, it chopped off the top/bottom, when I tried 1920*1080, it chopped off the sides, etc. If you set the Game Area Size to 'Whole Window' it should take up the whole window. Why this isn't done as default I don't know, but I'm sure there's a good reason for it. Anyway, try changing that to Whole Window and let us know how it goes. - Archmagus Micael

In all seriousness though, you've gone way past the point at which I decided to register the game. I know it still costs $15, but if the game's keeping you occupied for all this time, why not just buy it? I promise you you'll be able to get more of those artifacts you want, and it's a damn sight less frustrating if the Shareware Demon doesn't pop up every time you want to go somewhere interesting. - Archmagus Micael

Yes, he wrote the lightning thief. I have to admit I read those, didn't really find out about the books until I was too old to read books that small, but I gave them a second chance because the movie looked interesting. They're not bad. - Archmagus Micael

  14. Hi, Haven't been on here in a while, save for the odd lurk, but since Avadon's recently come out I decided earlier to check out the Demo. I managed to run into a really bizarre bug though. This only seems to happen if I tab out and back into the game, but if I hit F3 (quicksave) and then double click one of the arrow keys (I'm playing on my laptop so using the arrow keys to move the screen) directly after, the game just crashes straight to desktop. I haven't met Redbeard yet so am fairly early in the game, but doubt its a location thing. Now I don't really mind, since the game only takes a moment to come back in, but thought I'd mention it and see if anyone else could duplicate it or something. I'm running 32bit Windows 7 Home Premium. - Archmagus Micael
  15. I was one of those people sad enough to be waiting for the game when it came over to windows. Considering the last Spidweb game I'd played before it must've been Avernum 3, Geneforge was all nice new and shiny. Nearly gave up on the series after Geneforge 3, but Geneforge 4 got me back in, and GF5 wasn't so bad either . - Archmagus Micael
