After my last fanart doodles were well-received, I figured I'd make another little comic inspired by AC:CS.
Hope you like. xD

Triumph, that is the worst post ever written in the entire history of human existence. If ten million monkeys hammered away at typewriters for an eternity, they still couldn't produce a post so terribly, horrifyingly, gut-wrenchingly, vomit-inducingly awful. Reading that post made my eyes bleed so severely that I passed out and eventually died from blood loss. And then I died two more times because the sheer stupidity of that post made my brain melt and head explode. Writing that post makes you more evil than Satan, Hitler, and Cruella de Vil combined. Triumph, you should be so ashamed that you should crawl into a snake hibernaculum and never, ever come out again.
Dikiyoba could spend weeks detailing all the ways that post is a lexical, intellectual, aesthetic, personal, moral, cultural, financial, anatomical, and equilateral failure, but the awfulness of that post just broke Dikiyoba's computer into a billion fiery pieces.

Now, my memories of that time are really clear. There was a lot was going on around me and I soaked a lot of it up, including playing video games. I have some really vivid memories of SW games, but I was never able to place them chronologically. Likewise, I knew that I didn't join these forums upon finding the games, but I always assumed it was just a few months later. It wasn't really that big a deal anyway - I had the games, and I had the community.
Earlier this year though, I sat down and really thought about my involvement here; my time in the community. I thought about what I had wanted from it, or expected to find, or even just hoped I'd see here, 10 years ago. I thought about what I'd offered in return, and the friendships I'd made, and then, in the singular way that strong memories rise unbidden, I was in my parent's bedroom in a house I used to live in, around 12 years ago. My brothers and I all shared a room at this time, which obviously made space somewhat tight, and so my old 486 computer (which had been given to our family as a gift and had been passed down to me after a nicer computer was bought) had to stay in my parent's bedroom because that was where it would fit. Anyway, there I was, sitting on a mattress on the floor (money was tight, and beds were expensive), craning my head up to see the monitor, worrying I was creasing up the bed, and that my shuffling around was bunching up the duvet inside the cover. I wasn't worrying too much, however, because on-screen I was in Shadowvale, just before the Ruined Hall. As my memory went on, I remembered the sounds, and reading the item descriptions, and exploring each nook of the map. The sun was shining through the window on to me and the sounds of the game transported me away from our much-too-small house, the stress of the move there (that had jumped on me from nowhere and tore us all away from our home), and a whole slew of other, more personal things, and I remembered being happy.
That was in 2001. I know I didn't join this community until two years had passed, but even then I remembered how I hoped that the other people who had played this game - I was sure there had to be some - would have appreciated the sense of escape Nethergate (and Exile!) had brought. I wanted to share every detail of Nethergate with them, and discuss it and continue to be lost within it forever. Nethergate has always had a special place in my heart, even more so than Exile, and I think I finally remembered why.
So that was how I started down the path to where I am now. Ten years ago today, I joined this community in the hopes of finding interesting, like-minded people who might have had similar lives to me - or, at the very least who appreciated the feelings I held for these games, and I succeeded. My time here has hasn't always been bliss, and my life in the Real World has changed pretty dramatically too, but I count myself lucky to have been a part of this place for a whole decade. You're all awesome people, and I've enjoyed almost every minute.
Thanks for sticking with me, and here's to the future!

Most recently, I've taken my first steps towards the goal of letters after my name and gotten my M.D. Residency follows, and maybe a few more letters eventually!

Don't see what's so confusing about it.

These forums provided by Spiderweb Software as a place for players and fans to discuss the games and interact with each other. They are expected to remain appropriate for anyone who may read them, from young children to septuagenarian Eskimos. In order to keep these boards a friendly and helpful place, all members are expected to follow rules, most of which are common sense and courtesy.
1. Cause no harm.
These boards are paid for by Spiderweb Software, a small three-person company run primarily by a guy trying to feed his family. Using this board as a means to solicit, distribute, or discuss cracks or keys will result in immediate, permanent banning! Do not post unauthorized copyrighted material, sexually explicit material of any kind, or about any illegal activities. These boards are not meant for unauthorized solicitation of other products, and all such postings shall be removed. Again, this is a three person company and these forums help them stay in business.
2. Be family friendly, and be just plain friendly!
Make people feel welcome, especially new members. Don't use obscenities in any language, including masked or abbreviated obscenities, or post links to inappropriate material. Please avoid strong language on topics that are sensitive to others. Above all, do not make posts that that harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to any member and any hate speech against a certain group of people, due to their religion, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, etc.
3. Keep the boards clean.
This means posts should be relevant to the topic of the forum and should group similar topics into a single post. Within posts, please try to follow the flow of the conversation. Let old topics lie unless you wish to continue the discussion. Please adhere to rules of grammar and spelling, and please avoid distracting animated avatars and text. No posts that say nothing, please, and no posting games. Solicitation is not permitted.
Punishment of Infractions
Behavior in violation of the Code of Conduct is dealt with by the moderators and administrators of these boards. Minor violations lead warnings. Repeated violations will result in disciplinary action, including temporary or permanent banning. There is no hard rule for how many warnings one can receive before receiving punishment; this depends on how many infractions and how close together they occur. Serious violations may result in immediate, permanent banning.
Members are solely responsible for all use of their accounts and any posts by them. To prevent unwanted use by others, please use the Logout feature and protect your password.
Information that you post on these forums is available for anyone in the world to see, and once it's online it could be copied by anyone and reposted anywhere, making it very difficult to remove. Don't post other people's real names, pictures or other personal details without their permission, and think carefully about how much of your own personal information you're willing to share with the world: ask yourself whether what you're posting could expose you to harassment or other trouble in real life.
Leave rules enforcement to the moderators and administrators. You are welcome to point out behavior that you believe is inappropriate or that makes you uncomfortable, and you may of course point out to members if they are not following the rules. Moderators and administrators are expected to behave appropriately and impartially, including following all of the rules of membership and not abusing their powers, among which are editing and deleting posts, locking and moving threads, and banning. If you have a complaint about a moderator or administrator, you should email the complaint and any questions to an administrator or to email@example.com.
The rules apply to public and private posts equally: while administrators never go through others' private messages without reason, if anyone brings problematic private messages to our attention they will be held to the same standards of politeness and courtesy as all public posts.

Garzahd's fort is ominous. I rush in, blade in hand, and dispatch the warded infernals. Um… did I just kill them with divine fire? Hath hell frozen over? Is the mighty Garzahd taunting me with weaklings? Oh hey! A portal… and eye beasts! Meh. Can you handle six divine fires and three fireblasts? Losers. Oh noes! This Empire dude stole my soul! Six divine retributions! Three arcane blows! Empire dude takes a dirt nap. I regain my soul, kthxbai. Uh-oh, there's a bunch of lava and some gremli… er, I mean imps. 'sokay, I'll just read this book and make them go away.
I'm finally here! *plays O Fortuna* I'd better buff up. Oh, and I'll bring along two haakais, they're totally rad. I am totes ready now.
I meet Garzahd. He's all like, "Come at me bro. I am teh 1337 wizard!" What happened to your face, brah? Let's do spells together and stuff, 'mkay? Woosh! Quib! Kazam! Whoa bro, that is one gnarly cave widow you just summoned, I am totally shakin' in my pants. Uh… is that a cow patty you summoned? Nvm, it's a hortah thingamujiggit.
Then Garzahd's all like, "I am teh ubergeneral. You can haz pointy sword?! Oh noes! My beautiful face!" Cool story bro, don't tell it again. Slow! Daze! Um… I have 10 resistance, and you're like, using spells I learned in high school. Oh hey, lightning. Whatevs, I'll just mass heal. Six divine retributions! Three arcane blows! Poof! Now he's a bunch of pipe ash. Wait, srsly? Man, it took me longer to kill that eye beast in Cotra. Then Rentar-Ihrno's all like, "Yo! Here's a portal, bai."
Garzahd is a noob.

They do look pretty delicious, don't they? I'm not sure they would grow in Vahnatai Lands, though.

—Alorael, who knows it's just a joke (and not a riddle). It's's a very old joke, though, and it hasn't aged well.

Today I'm getting married, to someone from SW, and it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for this lovely webforum and all the people who hang out here.
This is short because I'm already fashionably late, but thanks for the good times, and the good times to come

I think the theory was that sarcasm is really dismissive. It talks right past you on purpose, and that says you really don't matter. You can take that as a joke from a peer, but from someone who has actual power over you, it just isn't funny.
wow what a great idea. we should institute a no-sarcasm policy right away
